Anne lectures on research and development in the interdisciplinary field from an art perspective. Anne is advisor for several art and science initiatives in Europe. Over the last few years she published papers on art, engineering and science collaboration and software development, especially 'open source' for interdisciplinary purposes. Besides this, Anne has practiced several more technical oriented functions.

Abstract

Hybrid and combined professions

Interdisciplinary media art productions not only bring about new ways of using techniques, but also have major implications for the production process due to the interdisciplinary aspect. The team constellation and the nature of the work require different skills to be represented in the team. The picture of the romantic artist in the attic room seems to be outdated for those working in software based art productions. Often artists are working as researchers, co developers, designers and engineers, they not only act as facilitators but contribute significantly to the artistic process in several ways etc. Several aspects of this shifting work process will be amplified and illustrated with examples and cases from the V2_Lab in Hybrid and combined professions by Anne Nigten.
