A crucial decision since the very conception of this digital music project was the creation of a unique brand of music by relying solely on our GameBoy consoles as musical instruments. Mikro Orchestra Project is an experimental sound - visual project, basing on the use of GameBoy console as a music instrument. Main assumption of project's authors is to create new sound space on the base of tones generated live from console during the performance. Since 2005 we use our own vj-ing software SQJ http://www.sqjvj.com/ The group has been active since 2001. Their first performance took place at WRO 01 International Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland, on 5th May, 2001. Currently the band is working on studio material.

WHO WE ARE
Mikro Orchestra Project consists of 6 members:

Jarosław Kujda - leader, musician, soloist - responsible for consultingi 6 in 1, LSDJ, Nanoloop
Agnieszka Kujda - musician - leader's wife - ambient sounds, Electroplankton
Małgorzata Kujda - musician, photographer - dark ambients, Nanoloop
Mariusz Jura - musician, soloist- hard beat, Nanoloop
Paweł Janicki - musician, producer, soloist - music combinations full of rhythm, Nanoloop
Tomasz Prockw vj, freeware musician SQJ

Mikro Orchestra Project for Social Hacking
1. Performance One day after the workshops Mikro Orchestra will perform in the city centre with all workshop's participants. Details will follow soon. '(...) on the stage, the members of the band sit comfortably on sofas with Nintendo's Gameboys in their hands. Then off they go with their "blip-pop" music (their own term to describe their music), improvising with "blip" "boop" "beep" sounds from their Gameboy boxes. They use such music sequencers and drum-machines as Nanoloop, Little Sound Dj, GB Electric Drum, etc. all to be run on Gameboy devices to generate sounds by taking advantage of Gameboy's sound chip. Though this may sound like a commercial (or at least Gameboy-nerds-) niche, the sounds they create by using various effects like delays and reverve are surprisingly colourful and the loud volume of sounds coming from 5 amplified Gameboys is at times almost as amazingly rich in its expression as the soundscape of the noise legend Merzbow. The cheers of the audience gradually fill the concert hall and become part of the music. And as the audience share the moments with the musicians, the atmosphere of the concert becomes almost like a "rave" party of the '80s.' - Sachiko Hayashi 'Between Art and Technology' http://www.fylkingen.se/hz/n6/hayashi.html
