As part of the opening events of dOCUMENTA (13) in series of Artist/Agent Talks, Joasia Krysa talked with Mika Taanila (6th June), David Link (7th June) and Song Dong (9th June) about their projects.
Song Dong was born in 1966 in Beijing and lives there. His solo exhibitions include UCCA, Beijing (2011), YBCA, San Francisco (2011), MoMA, New York (2009), and Shanghai Zendai MoMA (2008). He has participated in group exhibitions at the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin (2010), MUMOK, Vienna (2008), as well as in the Biennale di Venezia (2011), the Liverpool Biennial (2010), the Gwangju Biennale (2006), and the Bienal de São Paulo (2004).
The artist and media archaeologist David Link was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1971 and lives in Cologne. In 2004, he took his PhD in philosophy with a work on the history of computerized text generation. His computer art installations and performances have been shown all over the world. His current research focuses on the development of an archaeology of algorithmic artefacts.
Mika Taanila was born in 1965 in Helsinki, where he lives today. He has had solo exhibitions at the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe (2010), and the Migros Museum, Zurich (2005). Taanila has participated in numerous international film festivals and group exhibitions, such as the Shanghai Biennale (2006), the Berlin Biennale (2004), Manifesta 7 (2002), and the Istanbul Biennial (2001).
